Job Summary
As the Cask Sales Advocate your main focus is to drive cask sales though the implementation of dynamic sales strategies and appropriate standards, procedures and correspondence that will facilitate ease of purchase for customers. You must actively seek out individuals and markets in which to promote the sale of privately owned casks, whilst at all times keeping a timely and rigidly maintained enquiry response system. You must remain aware of and be proactive and reactive to customer needs and market trends. Alongside casks you must promote the sale of all distillates. You must seek to be fully knowledgeable in the world of whisky and whisky production.
Main Duties:
- Organise all cask sales personally, overseeing cask fillings, cask owners’ tours and associated hospitality, along with organising and processing all the associated documentation.
- Maintain a fit-for-purpose filing system for all cask owner documentation and cask ownership packs, ensuring cover is organised for these duties when absent or out of the office, seeking help from the Cask & Whisky Sales Manager and Assistant Cask & Whisky Sales Manager.
- Deal with cask enquiries in an efficient and timely manner. All enquiries and correspondence must be responded to within 24 hours, ensuring cover is organised for these duties when absent or out of the office seeking help from the Cask & Whisky Sales Manager and Assistant Cask & Whisky Sales Manager.
- Correspondence must be personalised to the individual enquirer/purchaser. A proactive approach to selling our portfolio of cask options, must be adopted to create the highest possible spend per head.
- Create a sales pitch that makes purchasing a cask easy for the enquirer/purchaser, including detailed financial information if requested, personable, engaging script and pertinent POS material.
- Sales focus must be split between fresh-fill casks and mature casks purchased with the intention for further maturation or white label bottling.
- Monitor and update online/website cask information and the cask payment system, with help from the ADG Marketing & PR Manager.
- Work proactively with the ADG Marketing & PR Manager to create marketing communication materials online and off line that promote cask sales in a vigorous and highly engaging manner.
- Work proactively with the Inventory & Compliance Manager (or designate) to develop an exciting cask offering.
- Liaise with the Head of Production to make sure that all cask fillings occur in the shortest possible timeframe, in a timely manner and otherwise according to the schedule agreed with the cask purchaser.
- Work with the Finance Team to monitor cask sales and yield of gross profit and report these KPIs in a timely manner within two working days of every month end.
- Work closely with the Inventory & Compliance Manager (or designate), ADG Commercial Director & General Manager, and the distillery owners to understand and develop our ongoing wood policy with a view to providing options for cask purchasers.
- Organise and attend offsite whisky/beverage events both nationally and internationally. Represent all brands/distillates focusing on their sales, and cask sales, at appropriate events by liaising UK and International Trade Sales Advocate’s. Cask & Whisky Sales Manager and Assistant Cask & Whisky Sales Manager.
- Produce an annual event planner relevant to cask sales and white label bottlings.
- Look to achieve and exceed the budgeted target for cask sales as set by the ADG Commercial Director & General Manager.
- Be aware of all HMRC regulations and all documentation in relation to buying and selling duty suspended bulk and bottled goods.
- Have a full understanding of all white label bottling operation and offering.
- Be proactive in seeking out new cask sales opportunities focused on selling mature stock for bottling. Visiting perspective customers and devising new routes to UK and international markets.
