Head of Sales

Our client has been established for over 20 years now and is looking to expand their team in Cardiff. They provide a bespoke glass and glazing service for both commercial and domestic clients. With no job too big, they are truly experts in the field and can offer custom designs for specific needs, such as curved glass balustrades, mirrors, back painted glass and so much more!

Growing from strength to strength, they have built strong lasting partnerships with clients such as Premier Inn, Costa Coffee, Beefeater and many more. To keep up with competition, they have upgraded all machinery in the business so they can continue to be a leader in the field!

Head of Sales is responsible for managing the activity of a company’s sales team. The primary duties include setting sales targets, analysing sales data and performing strategic planning for the sales department.

At the strategic level; are responsible for maintaining and increasing sales, they have a range of duties associated with ensuring that the company is profitable, including:

  • Monitoring the performance of the sales teams by setting and reviewing goals and identifying training and coaching needs.
  • Devising and implementing systems to keep staff motivated and maintain a high performing culture in alignment with the values of the business.
  • Recruiting and training sales staff and ensuring the department is appropriately resources to deal with fluctuations in sales volumes.
  • Researching, analysing and setting price points to maximise sales and maintain healthy profit margins.
  • Identifying opportunities by keeping track of competitive activity.
  • Using industry knowledge to identify potential new markets and increase the market share.
  • Maintaining sales records and design reports to ensure that the data collected is being utilised effectively.
  • Creating sales campaigns including call centre- email scripts and email blasts.

At the operational level

A Sales Manager organises, coaches and leads the Sales Team to work towards agreed targets. Their duties include providing guidance, training and mentorship, creating a sales plan and setting sales goals and quotas. Some of the key responsibilities of a Sales Manager include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic sales plans that expand business’ customer base and solidify its presence.
  • Achieving growth and hitting sales targets by successfully managing sales teams and by assessing the teams strengths and weaknesses.
  • Establishing productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
  • Building and promoting healthy, long-lasting customer relations by partnering with them.
  • Developing and implementing new sales initiatives, strategies and programmes to capture key opportunities.
  • Providing weekly/daily reports of field sales success and communicating the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to the business.

Required Skills/Abilities

A successful applicant needs to have several years of experience in sales, often starting as sales representatives and growing into a managerial position. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with A Levels or equivalent in mathematics, statistics and law would be useful.

Computer, technology and media skills are also crucial for advertising and media sales.
